If you live in Spokane, you undoubtedly know Latah Creek Winery. In 1982 Mike and Ellena Conway moved to the Northwest to start Latah Creek and Hogue Cellars (with Mike Hogue). In 1982 only a handful of industrial buildings dotted the landscape around their 13030 Indiana facility in the Spokane Valley. In a stroke of divine foresight or accidental fate, now thousands of cars stream by daily as they make their way to and from the Spokane Valley Mall, surrounding retail spaces and booming Center Pointe area.
Mike crafted his winemaking skills in the 70’s working for wine giants E&J Gallo, Franzia Brothers and Parducci. It was while at Parducci that he honed his skills for white wine and brought the slow cold fermentation process to Washington state (cold fermentation brings out a natural residual sweetness in white wines at a lower alcohol level of 8-10%). It is the white wine line-up that helped Latah Creek grow to a 17,000 case per year company. A few years back Mike and Ellena’s daughter, Natalie, joined the crew and brought with her a new focus on red wines.
With the Vinosity blend, Petit Verdot, Sangiovese and the newest release Monarch Red, Latah Creek is making strong positive movement into quality red wine production. Keep a look out for more distinct reds that showcase the newly developed Monarch series label.
Celebrate 28 years with Latah Creek winery July 16-18. Mike, Ellena and Natalie are having a big party and you’re invited to celebrate with special events on the patio, deals in the tasting room, and even a few surprises. Put the event on your calendar and don’t miss it.
Friday, Latah Creek is launching their first ever Pinot Gris. Be one of the first to try their new liquid delight, perfect for summer. You’ll also find 20% off on mix and match cases and up to 35% off on select case products. As always their tasting room will be filled to the brim with fantastic gift ideas for the wedding season that is now upon us.
